Originally issued by the 7-eleven chain in the late 60’s to
advertise their slurpee drinks, this track gained notoriety when dj
shadow and cut chemist built their legendary ‘brainfreeze’ mix
around it a few years ago, even using the same artwork. the
original 7”s have always been hard-to-find, and the ‘vocal’
version, complete with slurping noises is included here but with
the addition of the never-before-released, impossible-to-find
insrtumental on the b-side! not on the original release, this was
only ever available on a library album produced exclusively for the
u.s radio market by the original producers, tom merriman & jim long
(responsible for some of the most well known u.s t.v & radio
jingles from the 60’s & 70’s). not only are both tracks great
slices of funk, but the instrumental reveals the great drum break
clean and free from vocal for the first time! essential!

Lovefingers & Nitedog put their heads and record collections
together to deliver these three edits. Black Disco Vol 1 features
three killers, all edited and replayed a bit to make for some
serious dancefloor action. Kicking off with "Mars (Nitedog's Lunar
Lunch)" an acid tinged slap bass monster, with a nice piano, funky
geetar and that nagging synth all before the lyrics drop at 3/4 of
the way in. Over on side-B is the monstrous "Mexico (Lovefingers
Barrio Edit)" A super cool mid tempo shuffle with parts taken from
Sammy Barbot's 'New Mexico', check the super beat edits half way
in, very nice. Last up is "1984 (Summer Of Lovefingers Mix)" which
it seems is a bit of an instrumental from some Simple Minds or U2
track, loads of echoplex guitar, a big fuck off kick drum and somw
moaning style vocals.

One of the best collections of funky porno grooves
we've ever heard -- a really well-done compilation
that gets past the kitsch and sleeze to find the
tightest, funkiest tunes from this unique 70s
soundtrack subgenre! The focus here is mostly on the
music -- and there's loads of great numbers awash in
heavy keyboards, wah wah guitars, and deeply groovy
rhythms -- most of which present their funk with a
nice sort of polish and well-crafted groove -- one
that comes across with a sound that's somewhere
between mainstream work on the CTI/Kudu jazz labels,
