The Clancy Brothers & Tommy Makem
Irish folk singing group. Patrick, Tom, and Liam Clancy were born in Carrick-on-Suir, County Tipperary, Ireland. After immigrating to the United States in 1955, the brothers began playing traditional Irish music as a quartet with Tommy Makem in New York City. During the 1960s, The Clancy Brothers progressed from singing in small clubs to large concert venues, including Carnegie Hall. They are often credited with popularizing Irish music in the U.S.
