I don't find it strange at all. It's a common occurence in the music industry. Mark and his crew created this brand and then the people running the company start to interfere. I don't blame Mark leaving and starting his only label. Besides, there are other companies out there that produce similiar types of compilations as Hed Kandi and Tokyo Project. As a matter of fact, compilations created by the Defected label out of London are very similiar (especially since Hed Kandi used so many of this label's tracks on their compilations).
It's not the type of music that will cause problems. CD compilations like Hed Kandi's have been around for a very long time and are produced by other companies. It's just that, in my humble opinion, Hed Kandi did a much better job of choosing the best tracks and the packaging than many of its competitors. I think that the main problem will be a general confusion over the labels. Just as you so correctly pointed out, DarkS, these two companies are producing the exactly the same product. There is a difference between similiar and exactly the same. Will people be able to tell the difference? I'm already a bit confused and yet I know exactly what happened.
However, I have a feeling that the Tokyo Project will do better. Right now, the Hed Kandi label is being run the corporate way and that doesn't necessarily mean that the best music will be produced. Mark Doyle is an extremely passionate man when it comes to music and he put his heart and soul into Hed Kandi. That's the main reason why it was so good. The man cared a lot about what tracks should appear on each of the compilations, how the artwork on the CDs should look like, and how each of the live events his team did in clubs all over the world should be done. He will definitely continue this with the Tokyo Project (although that's no guarantee of success). The main question for me is will Hed Kandi take this same amount of care now that Doyle has left?
I was able to see Mark Doyle djing live at B.E.D. in South Beach, Miami during the Winter Music Conference in 2004. The man is a monster on the turntables and is very passionate about his work. I get a certain warm feeling in my belly when I come across a DJ who is passionate about their work and Doyle certainly gave me that feeling. If the Tokyo Project doesn't work out, he can still continue to DJ. But, I have a feeling that he won't have to worry about that.
I think that it's a great idea to have a seperate thread for the Tokyo Project. So, killer77, please post it seperately and use rapidshare if possible (megaupload is too slow). Or maybe can post if at both rapidshare and megaupload?

Be patient. 3 part of 5 are already uploaded but not on rapidshare,
because I got an errors all the time and not on megaupload.
I use zupload.com - it`s fast and no download limitation.
This compilation will blow your mind. |

Yeah, I'm afraid Hed Kandi will lose some quality with Doyle gone... I like their now cover girl artist tho, so that part will be alright
Hmmz, I think they might just release less albums than before, but let's just wait and see how thing turn out
I'm looking much forward to Tokyo Project's first album, maybe I'll even start collecting all TP albums (actually buying them, if I can find them in our Belgian shops that is) |

Друзья, очень нуждаюсь в вашей помощи. Помогите найти эти шикарные картинки на обложках дисков Н-К. Подскажите кто рисует, где можно найти. Если есть у Вас пришлите на kam_a@nts.kg буду очень благодарен. Буду особенно признателен за рисунки без подписей и надписей в очень хорошем качестве. Мне для видео ролика радиостанции.
