Defected Records Ltd. (usually known in the music industry simply as a Defected) is a British record label influenced by US house. It was established by Simon Dunmore (previously the manager of the old AM:PM label) and Janet Bell in 1999. Having released records from the likes of Ministers De-La Funk, Hatiras and Bob Sinclar, Defected has gained recognition the world over for it's dedication to the house and garage music industry.
Defected's first release was "Can't Get Enough" by Soulsearcher. Since then, the British label has released nearly 200 singles. Not bothering to sign any artists, Defected usually releases specific tracks by specific projects. Names that have published by Defected include Bob Sinclar, Junior Jack, ATFC, Sandy Rivera and Masters At Work. Many singles are re-released in CD format after having success as 12-inch vinyls in the clubs.
Through a distinctive range of album series, progressive talent development, a growing roster and unparalleled music catalogue, Defected has both inspired the respect of audiences around the world and established a global collaborative network of the most sought-after producers, artists and DJs across generations. Creative marketing and promotions encompass live events, merchandise and web activity, while specialist sub-labels and tireless innovation ensure an ever-expanding musical remit.
During its 5 year history, the label has seen significant chart success, including a No. 1 hit with Roger Sanchez 'Another Chance' and a string of UK Top 40 hits from Junior Jack, Bob Sinclar and Martin Solveig. Starting 2005 with Soul Central Hitting the UK Charts at No.6
Dunmore has also provided a home for a few artists to create their own labels: M Records (run by Michael Grey of Full Intention) and Stealth Records (run by Roger Sanchez) operate from Defected's offices and are distributed by the London-based label.
At the 2006 House Music Awards ceremony held in London, Defected and its Artists picked up 6 awards, including 'Label of the Year' and 'Best Club Night'.
Now the world’s biggest house outfit, Defected Records started life in a small office in Soho where boss Simon Dunmore dreamed of creating a label as big as Motown. Fed up of life with the majors at A&M Records, Dunmore and partner Janet Bell decided to go it alone, making Defected into a publishing house where their love of dance music came first.
Central to Defected’s success is their policy of nurturing raw talent. In Dunmore ’s own words - “ Whenever I ask someone to sign with us, I always get them to consider all the other artists who’ve stuck with for so long already. That doesn’t happen if you treat people badly.” This hands-on approach to music making means that although the label is now inflated and successful, it remains a close community of like-minded music makers. Thus, it’s able to push house music forward as a united front.
This is best seen at the headline night – “In The House” – at Pascha in London and at the sister club in Ibiza and heard on the special compilations, mixed by Dunmore , of the same name.

Trumen, может быть зальешь Africanism vol. 2 (2004) еще раз, только CD1 и CD2 по раздельности, а то обрывается ссылка с сендспейса. |
