Since his breakout year in 2005, T.Z.A. has shot a steady arsenal of tunes through the drum and bass stratosphere, wasting no time with his first releases on Renegade Hardware’s sublabel Barcode and Dylan’s Obscene. “Man of War,” “A Thousand Prayers” and “On the Inside/Steppin Razor” offered tantalizing glimpses of what was to come. With sounds as dark and moody as his native Seattle, T.Z.A. has earned a place among the most respected producers in drum and bass, gaining support from the likes of Dylan, Bailey, Tech Itch, and more. His new tune “Fuct,” to be released in April 2007 on Barcode’s second LP “Symptomless Comma,” will join others from Counterstrike, Donny, Demo and more. Its intro of sweepy synths and growling bass teasers, “Fuct” goes on a distorted, rolling ride through bumpy terrain before hitting calculated, angry stabs. Coming off of the impressive September 2006 release “Suck It Up/Lady Death” (Barcode 21), “Fuct” rounds out a full body of work, including a remix of Counterstrike’s “Can’t let Go” for Algorythm. No stranger to music and production, T.Z.A. pools resources from his early influences, ranging from jazz to trip-hop and metal to ambient. A drummer first, T.Z.A.’s journey into production began in 1999, when he started experimenting with hip-hop, downtempo, experimental, then drum and bass. By 2002 he had caught the ear of many established players, leading to his releases. Since then T.Z.A. has worked hard to push his sound grinding away in the studio and touring the country. Next on the horizon is a solid release/tour schedule that is sure to keep T.Z.A. on everyone’s lips and in everyone’s ears. Stay tuned.
