Over the recent years a considerable music scene has build up in Southern Italy,
featuring deejays and producers with an excellent sound and a distinct artistic attitude.
One of the finest to emerge from those parts is Adriano Filipucci,
an artist whose undisputed musical talent has been shaped by a formal musical education
and an uncompromising passion for the electronic dance music.
There is something different in the way this guy makes his music
and this specific attitude is heard in his tracks from the beginning to the end.
The work on percussion is excellent and everything here is made with outmost precision,
just as one would expect when dealing with a schooled musician.
But what strikes you the most with Adriano Filipucci is a sense of deepnes his tracks have.
It is like as if he has been able to back the ordinary soundscape with a whole new sound dimension,
producing an extremely rich, but jet pure and simple sound.
Valentino Kanzyani and his Jesus Loved You label crew were right once again.
There is something special about this guy and Polydrums EP is by all means an excellent release!

dapayk & padberg's "black beauty" single was played
back and forth in summer 2007. short after their
appendant album attracted great interest even beyond
the borders of the clubscene (i.e. dapayk & padberg
received the musikexpress styleaward for "best
performer domestic"). one reason is a reorientation,
they turned away from the established and over used
minimal clubsound of the past years. now, the "black
beauty rmxs pt.1" brings together pokerflat member
guido schneider on the a-side and mo's ferry label
head dapayk on the flip side. guido schneider's
minimal and subtle production skills and his focus on
a very functional style o not only reflect on his own
releases. with remixes for steve bug, andre galuzzi,
plastikman and others he made himself a long-time
favoured remix producer for the mo's ferry crew. his
version of "theiss" takes the melody parts of the
original, replaces the breakbeat by a straight
bassdrum/hihat functionalism and pays special
attention to a matchless flowing pace. dapayk
reworked one of the album skits called "pantomime
horse". he not only raised the tempo, but instead he
developed the theme to a new floor-oriented version.
despite the punching 4/4 bassdrum he keeps on playing
with the mainly acoustic drum sounds from the
original. hiphop-minimal-crossover!

The launch of Sasha’s emFire label was undoubtedly one of the main talking points during the last half of 2007. Four original tracks were released and the discussion raged: which was best or least favourite be it at home or in a club? Was Mongoose really Sasha? And, of course, who killed Sparky? Now the debate is set to continue as Sasha releases ‘The emFire Collection’.
Disc 1 plays host to ‘The Remixes’, which invites four of the world’s most exciting producers to present their interpretations of the emFire catalogue by way of a totally unique twist. Each carefully selected artist was commissioned to provide two versions - a traditional club and alternative, leftfield mix. The result is a very special, duplicitous ride through the minds of Slam, Audion, Radio Slave and The Field totaling an unmixed 70 minutes. The anticipated, incredible results beg one question – which do you prefer?
Disc 2 features 3 exclusively edited originals and the previously unreleased ‘Spangled Rubdub’ of Coma alongside Sasha’s 40 minute, mixed score to the surf movie ‘New Emissions Of Light & Sound’. The score, which has never been released in audio format, recently took top honours at the X Dance Awards (http://www.x-dance.com) that run in conjunction with the esteemed Sundance Film Awards and are effectively the Oscars equivalent of the sport movie industry. A beautiful, haunting ride, the extended piece provides a fitting conclusion to this bumper emFire package.

Latest mix from Bremen DJ Oliver Huntemann comes fresh off the Rex Club
turntables in Paris. Play! 02 live arrives in May.
Huntemann has a looser approach to the humble mix CD than most DJs,
eschewing spliced-and-diced studio mixes for live sets recorded out in the
clubs such as last year's first Play! live compilation from Brazil's lightbox D-Edge.
Play! 02 live, which was recorded this February, includes bighitters from Popof,
Friendly People, Dubfire and Shlomi Aber before winding up on Huntemann
and Bodzin's final canon in their Rekorder 12" series. Like the first volume,
the mix also comes with cheers and whistles captured by mics placed around
the dancefloor.

Audion, Radio Slave and The Field retool Sasha on a new remix album on emFire.
The emFire Collection - Mixed, Unmixed & Remixed drops next month.
Disc one of the 2CD set includes new Slam, Audion and Radio Slave remixes of the
first three Sasha releases on emFire. There is also a remix by The Field of 'Mongoose',
the Sasha track originally slated for release on the anonymous Rebelone series which
turned up on white label after distributors Amato went bust.
All four remixers on the disc were invited to hand in one club and one more leftfield mix
for the collection. The second disc includes Sasha's own re-edits as well as his forty-minute
score to the surf doco New Emissions Of Light & Sound.
