Oliver Huntemann has been doing his thing for quite a while, under various
guises, as DJ and producer. Since 1995 he has been running the Confused Rec.
label (plus sub-labels). "PLAY! 01 [live] - Sao Paolo/Brazil" in 2007 was the
predecessor of his current mix album "PLAY! 02 [live] - Rex Club/Paris".
Especially for this event Oliver has produced a new single: "PLAY! 02 EP -
Paris/La Boum". It seems that these two tracks are able to be the next big
thing. Already played by big names such as Dubfire and Stephan Bodzin!

Systematic label head Marc Romboy brings his second album 'Contrast' into existence. Romboy's second album,
following his brilliant debut LP 'Gemini' released in 2006, sees an electronic album of collaborations with some
of dance music's most excellent vocalists. Chelonis R. Jones - known for releases on Get Physical and for his
collaborations with Royksopp - contributes on two releases. Blake Baxter - a regular Romboy collaborator who
has also released on Kevin Saunderson's KMS imprint, Tresor, Disko B and Underground Resistance - adds his
vocals to 'Fly Away'.
And Mr. K-Alexi - one of Chicago's finest who has also collaborated with artists including Larry Heard, Robert Owens,
Will Smith and Felix Da Housecat, lends his voice to two tracks on the album.
"The style of the album is simply electronic music with soulful elements and Detroit/Chicago techno/house influences..
I've chosen all these collaborations because I love to include soul into the electronic music I make. And the warm
and emotional voices of these people contribute exactly what I love. I couldn't make instrumental tracks with a computer
only. Sometimes yes, but working with voices is always a beautiful thing." - Romboy
'Contrast' - an overview: Impressive chords mark the intro to 'The Beat', a track mixing classic Detroit Techno with
Chelonis R Jones' soft and soulful voice. 'Fly Away' is fat techno with a bounce, a breakdown and the fifth vocal
collaboration between Romboy and Blake Baxter. 'Iceland' - named so after Romboy was particularly impressed
with the country and the people he met there - is an unfitting combination of atmospheric strings and an out-freaking
bassline. 'E Y Mind' is, in Romboy's words, "Hedonism..There's no bassdrum and when you hear it, you know why";
K-Alexi adds a perfect vocal input to create a dark, moody and slow release - expect a remix from Radio Slave.
'Karmabolage' works the synth and delay effects to create a forward pushing dancefloor monster. 'Side FX' is a more
'classic' Romboy sounding release with Chelonis adding his vocal to make it a very special atmospheric track. 'Acid Love'
purrs with the bassline of a cat and portrays classic acid house values a la Trax records. 'Sonora' is the hardest track
on the album "I love the noise and fizzling of the track. Everything is random, nothing was planned. We twiddled the
knobs of the synthesizers like crazy and didn't care about anything" 'Luna's World' brings interlude from Romboy's daughter
"My sunshine". And 'Elif' is: "My love and when I heard this sax player I could not resist. It's a super untypical song for me
and my reputation but I had to include it on the album too."
