The latest single to be lifted from Hot Chip's massive Made In The Dark album,
'One Pure Thought' comes with an almost unmanageable quantity of B-sides spread
across its various formats. The song itself is another romping dancefloor pop
song that (as tends to be the case with Hot Chip) gets all the electronic stuff
right but sounds rather flimsy when it comes to vocals and guitar, which as per
usual are a bit of a shambles. The robust melody and strange electro-reggaeton
rhythms of the beat make up for the dodgy non-electronic performances, which
lets face it, are all part of this most un-rock & roll, nerdish bunch's charm.
The CD format comes with the video for the single, a Dominik Eulberg remix of
the track, plus 'We're Looking For A Lot Of Love (Christmas Recording)' - an
acoustic guitar and vocal recording (ouch!), plus a big, daft remix of 'Ready
For The Foor' by the group's own Joe Goddard, which is a right laugh.

head of his young family, he does not slow down. in

influenced and shaped by classical british warp and
rephlex electronica, the a-side is structured quite

apparently, the flip-side starts more relaxed and
housy than the a-side; but nevertheless, this track
rocks us down to the ground. the sound is a bit more
clean and organized, but for this reason it possesses
an unbelievable hypnotic effect.
