Babak Shayan ist schon seit seinem ersten Release auf Plastic City in 2001 unter dem Projektnamen "Dualists“ auf kontinuierlichem Release-Kurs im Tech-House Sektor. Als Mitglied von "Soda Inc.", und Aufgrund seines viel beachteten Labels "Shayan-Music" ist er eine feste Grösse der deutschen Tech-House Szene geworden. Nach mehr als 20 Compilations und Alben präsentiert Babak Shayan nun sein bisher persönlichstes Werk: "My Life" — sein erstes Solo- Album. Es ist schwer, Babak's Musik in eine Schublade zu stecken. Zwischen tech-housigen Tunes wie „Snake In The Grass“ oder „Flowers“ schimmern auch immer wieder seine Herkunft und seine Wurzeln durch. Sowohl bei dem Titel "One In A Million“, der auch aktuell auch auf der „Lima“ Compilation (Global Undergound (GU) vom DJ Legende Nick Warren) veröffentlicht wurde, als auch bei anderen Tracks sind immer wieder orientalische Klänge (von Sitar bis Ney) wahrzunehmen. In einem Interlude ist sogar ein Gespräch auf iranisch von Babaks Freunden zu hören. Der Titel "Azadi Nist“, welcher auf deutsch soviel bedeutet wie "keine Freiheit“, passt leider aktuell viel zu gut zur politischen Lage im Iran.
Babak Shayan ist seit seinem 13ten Lebensjahr in Deutschland, obwohl seine ganze Familie noch im Iran lebt. Nach dem Abitur und dem Mathmatikstudium hatte er von Köln aus mit seinem Label „Shayan-Music“ seinen wahren Lebensinhalt zur Profession gemacht. Mit „My Life“ zeigt Babak Shayan seine Qualitäten als Künstler der elektronischen Tanzmusik, seine Obsession zur Musik in allen Formen und Farben sowie seine Gefühle zu seinem Heimatland.
