The first of the Berghain residents to produce a full length album, Ben Klock
was always the likely choice to come up with something a bit special. "One" is
definitively a techno album, with the focus on a club friendly sound which Klock
excels in every weekend with his extended DJ sets at Berghain and across the
world. I was initially wary when I clocked vocalists listed on the tracklisting,
but Elif Bicer (who previously contributed to the ace Prosumer & Murat Tepeli
LP) provides a restrained and entirely welcome layer of drifting abstracted soul
to tracks "Goodly Sin" and "OK", to balance out the house side of Klock's innate
fusion of house sensuality with techno sensibilities. The rest of the album is
made up of focussed technohouse tracks in his dancer-toned and efficiently
trimmed style, minimising any drag on tracks like the aerodynamic "Check For
Pulse", or "In A While" with delicate melodies and spacious application of
reverb. Tracks like "Underneath" or "Gloaming" are the real gems in the set,
steadily building an opulently darkside vibe perfectly suited to the cavernous
space he plays in with a refined approach to stealthily introducing streamlined
rhythms and concentrating on a few well thought sounds, but managing to avoid
the pitfalls of bland minimal with ease. When he allows himself to indulge in
his experimental side on tracks with futuristic Chain Reaction style dubtech
textures or skipping Monolake/T++ alike rhythms on "Gold Rush" the results are
simply outstanding. If you haven't gathered by now, this is an essential listen
for any followers of the Berlin techno sound and comes with our highest
recommendations.

three cheers for and with the current remix collection series.
After Part #1 (BPC174) and Part #2 (BPC184), hereґs the third and last one,

The last congratulators are the bustling frenchman Feadz, the Berlin based
Moritz Friedrich aka Siriusmo, and our own homegrown techno artist Paul
Kalkbrenner.
A1 Suckerpin (Feadz Remix)
Feadz already proved a lot of times that he is always a force to reckoned with -
not only with last year's album. He uses this attitude as a guideline for his
interpretation of the already groovy "Suckerpin" Original. Feadz combines the
nonchalance of the original with the dynamic of his unmistakable and distinctive
sound aesthetics. Sweat on the dancefloor!
A2 2000007 (Siriusmo Remix)
Siriusmo takes the theme of the original track and playfully combines it with
his own beats and pieces. The result is this pumping Remix, persuasively light
and uncomplicated, but totally convincing at any time.
B1 2000007 (Paul Kalkbrenner's Tap Some Bong Remix)
The B-side then is reserved entirely for Paul Kalkbrenner's interpretation.
Paul divides the original piece into its individual parts, incorporating them in
familiar manner into a dancefloor burner while the rare, solid vocals are
reminiscent of the original.

A Level Non Zero release with the catalogue number 23 - who woudn't expect a
conspirational track and indeed: after legendary release "Futher & Further", the
secret house society leaders Pascal FEOS & Heiko "MSO" Schafer (Ongaku Musik,
Klang Elektronik, Playhouse) once again met for a conspirational studio session
to dominate the clubbing world with an extraordinary production. The result is
named "Luv" and sounds like the essence of the essence of minimal house music
neatly stretched out to 11 minutes running time. Cladestinely they've
implemented classical Chicago Jack elements in a modern lunar probe to irridate
mother earth with an eternal stream of love. Adequate gravitation-free the sound
comes across as a gauze of warm bassy clouds, funky finger clicks, sustain
violin strings and paradisiac "Luv" female vocals. After a long ethereal break
the track speeds up again smoothly and reveals a subtile glowing sound of the
TB-303. "Luv" is the perfect example of rarely produced tracks that give you the
feeling of oustanding full-embracement. Enjoy!

baseline trough the city. percussions and melodies push the track
always forward and clever breaks give short space to take a breath.
But at the end, it is a rollin track that takes you to lovely places
with some palms, icecubes in your drinks… it reminds you, the summer
is near! A >must have< for a fat sound system and endless club
nights. Guido Schneider takes the percussion elements of >Deep Down<
to play with them in a different content. Although he is using the
basis material the track becomes his own character. With heavy
baseline, that leaves you waiting for the first minutes the track is
a pushing tune you cannot resist..
