The second post-Roger Waters Pink Floyd album is less forced and more of a group effort than A Momentary Lapse of Reason — keyboard player Rick Wright is back to full bandmember status and has co-writing credits on five of the 11 songs, even getting lead vocals on "Wearing the Inside Out." Some of David Gilmour's lyrics (co-written by Polly Samson and Nick Laird-Clowes of the Dream Academy) might be directed at Waters, notably "Lost for Words" and "A Great Day for Freedom," with its references to "the wall" coming down, although the more specific subject is the Berlin Wall and the fall of Communism. In any case, there is a vindictive, accusatory tone to songs such as "What Do You Want From Me" and "Poles Apart," and the overarching theme, from the album title to the graphics to the "I-you" pronouns in most of the lyrics, has to do with dichotomies and distinctions, with "I" always having the upper hand. Musically, Gilmour, Nick Mason, and Wright have largely turned the clock back to the pre-Dark Side of the Moon Floyd, with slow tempos, sustained keyboard chords, and guitar solos with a lot of echo.

Dark Side of the Moon: A Capella
"Dark Side of the Moon A Cappella" is an all-vocal version of Pink Floyd's magnum opus "Dark Side of the Moon." No instruments were used in the recording of this unique version of the album. Eight singers and one "vocal percussionist" (similar to a beatboxer) recreate the original work in its entirety.
The album was recorded in High Definition, without breaks between the tracks (as in the original), and is as close to the original in timing as possible, thus preserving its "Wizard of Oz Compatibility." Produced and mixed by the renowned a cappella Producer, Freddie Feldman, this recording breaks new ground in both the worlds of a cappella and rock.
Dark Side of the Moon A Cappella has been nominated for Best Pop/Rock Album in the 2006 Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards (CARAs).

Два гигантских декоративных "глаза", использованных в оформлении обложки DVD Pink Floyd "P*U*L*S*E", ушли с аукциона eBay. Анонимный покупатель заплатил за них 16,5 тысяч фунтов стерлингов. Всего на обладание этими предметами искусства поступило 46 заявок.
Чтобы сделать лот как можно более привлекательным для публики, музыканты Pink Floyd снабдили полутораметровые в диаметре "глаза" своими автографами.
Все вырученные от продажи "глаз" средства будут направлены на счет благотворительной организации Crisis, активно поддерживаемой бывшим гитаристом и вокалистом Pink Floyd Дэвидом Гилмором. Crisis занимается проблемами бездомных, собирая для них средства и теплую одежду и помогая найти приют в зимние месяцы.

One of These Days, A Pillow of Winds, Fearless, San Tropez, Seamus, and Echoes. The difference in track time is noticeable however,- 73:41 for the remix (vs. about 46 min. for the original).
Overall the remix is a bit more mellower and spacey than the original, and contain large sections of the original Floyd tune. One of These Days lacks the tense explosion in the middle of the song, opting more for a held-back, heavily echoed style which keeps you in suspense. A Pillow of Wind is very true to the original, with more retrospective drifts and hypnotic patterns.
This album starts the take off in Fearless, where the dub seeps in and makes you move. Better move here, because San Tropez and Seamus morph into outerspace- the true spirit of Floyd really comes through here and the artist spaces Seamus into a completely different tune. This tune is the most altered- there's not much but the howling dog and a bit of that lazy, bluesy guitar which Floyd did oh so well. Really, Floyd was a blues band which, like the Dead and the San Francisco Bay scene in the 60's, was just stretching the blues beats into psychedelia. But the remix does break up the album a bit, like the original, before launching into Echoes- my favorite on the original, and on the remix.
Whoever remixed this had a great grasp of Floyd and it shows in Echoes. the remix is a "must hear" for Floyd fans- it almost makes the original sound square!

Дэвид Гилмор, до того как попасть в Pink Floyd в 1968 году, успел поиграть в кембриджской группе Jokers Wild. Группа существовала с 1964 по 1966 гг., успела выпустить только один диск в 1965 г. Данную одиннадцатиминутку (была выпущена в виде одностороннего LP) я и предлагаю вам послушать...
