| King Crimson – Starless & Bible Black From Allmusic: Starless and Bible Black is even more powerful and daring than its predecessor, Larks' Tongues in Aspic, with jarring tempo shifts, explosive guitar riffs, and soaring, elegant, and delicate violin and Mellotron parts scattered throughout its 41 minutes, often all in the same songs. The album was on the outer fringes of accessible progressive rock, with enough musical ideas explored to make Starless and Bible Black more than background for tripping the way Emerson, Lake & Palmer's albums were used. "The Night Watch," a song about a Rembrandt painting, was, incredibly, a single release, although it was much more representative of the sound that Crimson was abandoning than where it was going in 1973-1974. More to that point were the contents of side two of the original LP, a pair of instrumentals that threw the group's hardest sounds right in the face of the listener, and gained some converts in the process.

First, from 1982, is "The Noise - Live in Frejus." And the second one is 1984’s “Three of A Perfect Pair – Live in Japan”. I personally owned the VCD format of the first and the laser disc format of the second. But since now it’s combined into one package, I purchased the DVD also. "Live at Frejus" is a short video, only part of the entire set list is represented here. Most songs were taken from “Beat” album. On the special features for this DVD I found another version of "Elephant Talk" (Discipline album, with red cover artwork) recorded at this venue but not seen on the video portion. For me this track was my first entry to get attracted with the album. For those of you who plan to buy this DVD, this can be heard on Tony's Photo Album in the Special Features section. The show kicks off with Bill and Adrian play the electronic drum kit in tandem, and it's a great thing to see how the band put this song together live since in the studio they can dub and overlay tracks. Tony Levin's driving bass rhythms is for me sounds like a walking bass and it’s an excellent experience looking at his performance. I always like how Tony plays his bass which I also saw him on Peter Gabriel “Secret World” live DVD. Another player is Bill Bruford who plays incredible drum solo just before "Indiscipline". It’s really awesome and it’s totally unique sound any drummer has ever played. Even though he is good with acoustic drum, he is also great with the electronic drums as well. I recognized this when he played at “An Evening of Yes Music Plus” by ABWH. The “Japan” concert was once my favorite and it helped me to understand Discipline (the New Crimson music style) better. This is a full-fledge concert video with three colour albums namely Discipline (red album cover), Beat (blue) and Three Of A Perfect Pair (yellow). The band has masterfully design the concert by telling you the background colour to tell from which album the particular song being played is taken from. Two years down the road finds the band much mature in their stage approach. Belew has gained his own confidence as a permanent frontman for the band. Comparing tracks, like "Waiting Man," shows them to have been better as a band. Fripp appears more reticent, as usual. Stand out tracks are "Frame By Frame," a gentle "Matte Kudasai," and the industrial noise fest of "Industry." Hey, I started enjoying “Industry” due to watching this video. Fripp plays wonderfully. There are bonuses: Tony's road photos and the rarely seen Crimson video for "Sleepless." The video quality is generally excellent, even though there are some more grainy sequences and some glitches coming from the original source films/tapes. Первая работа действительно впечатлила, все песни шедевральны. Последняя особенно... Если кто-нибудь читал "Темную башню" Стивена Кинга (преданного поклонника этой группы), то может помнит последние страницы... Роланд убил Алого Короля и начал взбираться на башню. Черная громадина уходящая своей макушкой высоко в хмурое небо и тонущая основанием в океане роз. И измученный жизнью, потерявший все и всех странник, который нашел то, что искал всю жизнь. Я думаю, лучшего саундтрека к эпилогу этой гениальной истории не найти. Добавлено: И еще просьба... Может кто-нибудь выложит ранние работы? у меня не выходит на этом долбаном NoNaMe зарегиться, чтобы скачать в хорошем качестве  |

| mic1 Лично я люблю у них первые 6 альбомов - они труъ А вот дальше пошла какакя-то эра "Диско" , которую я вообще не понимаю. Потом они конечно пытались вернуться к старому звучанию, но как-то не то Если дадите немного времени, то могу сделать шапку из всех (студийных) альбомов. |

Мне еще альбом Red понравился, а остальное еще пока не расслушал.
В принципе с Genesis и c Yes была такая история. Песни короче, мотивы попсовее. Все эта "новая волна". Зато они столько шедевров сочинили на ранней стадии, сколько многие за все карьеру не придумали. |

Нет, альбом 1981 Discipline - их лучшая пластинка. Экспериментальная и во всех отношениях замечательная. Ритм на этой пластинке держат выше всяких похвал, да и мотивчики тоже незаурядные. Из первых 6 альбомов мне в разной степени нравятся 5, а вот Lizard крайне неудачен. Red, пожалуй, и вправду превосходит всё остальное. Он безупречен... На Larks и Starless где-то половина песен - красота, а остальное - эксперименты, к которым можно относиться по-разному.
Yes, кстати, группа до того бездарная, что для них подражание новой волне было выигрышным: в новой волне было полно групп наголову выше Yes - хотя бы Blondie, Elvis Costello, The Cure и Madness. Они последовательно были не в состоянии написать чего-либо мало-мальски интересного, антитворчество, вот как бы я обозначил их работу. Разве что Rush ещё неинтереснее. Yes просто-таки образец полной артистической несостоятельности. Genesis - посредственности. Как и Pink Floyd c Сaravan. И весь прог-рок - напыщенный и бесполезный раздутый недожанр, если забыть о великих King Crimson и небезынтересных Gentle Giant, а новая волна была свежей волной. |

| вот если на счёт Yes и Genesis можно отчасти согласиться, то на счёт Pink Floyd это звучит как-то даже нелепо, но тема о King Crimson следовательно в тяжкие споры о других исполнителях пускаться не стоит. |

| Да, хотя Pink Floyd я и не люблю, при том, что одно время я слушал их довольно много, но с ними я переборщил, признаю, поскольку к Us And Them и Brain Damage/Eclispe у меня, в общем, претензий нет. DSOTM не самый сильный альбом, но хорошие песни имеются. Просто я вспоминаю то время, что я потратил на прослушивание Meddle, WYWH и Animals - безо всякого толка. Если уж на то пошло, то при всей лажовости Yes Roundabout - песня приемлемая, проблема группы в том, что она всё равно не особенно сильная, да ещё они много-много другой музыки сочинили. С King Crimson всё в основном в порядке (но не на Lizard). Заслуживают всяческих похвал. |

| Просто я по себе смотрю - мне самому лень я как раз качаю себе все в 320 включая лайвы и EP (около 4 Гб) и в совершенном непонимании. До этого я только первый слушал и редкий (даже в том торренте нету) The VROOM Sessions. Оба альбома понравились но что-то закинул я эту историю на антресоль а теперь вот видите все качаю и дизориентирован а ведь я еще скачал на днях полную дискографию Yes!Так про вики. Хотя бы ссылку туда всунули. И еще парочку информационных ресурсов для полного обхвата) P.S. Погубит меня этот прогрессивный рок, говорил учитель, что все из него в попсу скатываются, вот уже в перерывах между ELP,Yes,Gentle Giant и Рахманиновым слушаю Justice  а самое главное что я сам буду писать через некоторое время под такими странными полярными влияниями? Но это уже оффтоп. |

| уважаемые все, у кого есть A Young Person's Guide to King Crimson © 1975 ??? - сборник, но там пара вещей в совершенно особом исполнении, отличном от тех, что в порядковых альбомах. Поделитесь плз, ежели имеется. Спасибо заранее. |

Тоже отличный альбом. Для меня, как раз, где-то на одном уровне с "Ящерицей". Тем не менее, творческими вершинами группы всегда считал "In the Court..." и "Red". Но, по правде говоря, сто лет уже ничего толком не переслушивал, а в своё время Кримзо были, наверное, самым любимым исполнителем. |

| Да кстати как у группы обстоят дела с матроком и сопутствующими товарами? Я сильно обрадовался, услышав (2003- The Power To Believe). Такую смелую музыку играть на старости лет))))))))))) Это нужно иметь силу! Их никогда к матроку не причисляли? Просто очень похоже все начиная от Thrak и VROOM Sessions. Эстетика, саунд... Единственное - все с размером нормально. |

есть ремастер 1999 года (из той серии, когда Фрипп лично сам осуществил ремастеринг ВСЕХ пластов Кримзо). не знаю, насколько сильно он отличается от ремастера 2004 года, так как 2004 год не слышал. думаю, что нет отличий  |

The band is in consistently good form, especially on A Man A City and Schizoid Man, which are taken at blistering speed, and in my opinion, the best way, because if the fast sections are too comfortable the half speed sections become relatively ponderous. | DeepSpun, venetia - вот немного информации: Проект The Crimson Jazz Trio создал в 2005 г. барабащик King Crimson Ian Wallace. В том же году был записан Vol.1, получивший превосходную оценку Р.Фриппа. В 2006 г. подготовлен к записи Vol.2, но тяжёлая болезнь Яна Уоллеса приостановила работу. Болезнь оказалась неизлечимой, и 22 февраля 2007 г. Уоллес ушёл из жизни. Ему было 60 лет. Работа над Vol.2 была завершена в 2008. Выход этого альбома посвящён памяти Яна Уоллеса. |

| Печально. Очень хороший барабанщик был. Хотя сравнительно недолго работал в Кримсон. Принимал участие в Yes, играл с Брайаном Ино (как и Фрипп), также Crosby, Stills and Nash... | DeepSpun, знаете, при моём пристрастии как к King Crimson, так и к джазу, я уже заранее любила эти альбомы. И, как оказалось, не напрасно. Они сразу же заняли место в золотом фонде моей музыкальной коллекции. Слов нет - музыка красоты необыкновенной. Вы мне подарили эту радость - безмерно Вам благодарна!!! Кстати, есть замечательный альбом 2008 г. с джазовой интерпретацией музыки Pink Floyd: Jazz Side Of The Moon (Yahel - Hoenig - Moreno - Blake), а также альбом 1995 г. A Jazz Tribute To Deep Purple, записанный французским джазовым коллективом Air Jazz Quartet. | Обратил внимание на бэнд год назад, под влиянием tool... (собсна был немало удивлен тому, что последние действительно много заимствуют у KC). Вот решил заглянуть сюда да поделиться с ценителями). Очень нравится альбом Red, а в особенности песня One More Red Nightmare - одна из самых замечательных вещей что слышал за все время. Странно, почему они ее не играют (не играли) на концертах (ну, по-крайней мере, в той куче официальных ливов что у меня есть этой песни не прослеживается.... только одна лишь Red*)... Еще более странно осознавать себя частью эдакого поколения, которое едва упело зацепить с хорошим восприятием хотя бы чуток тяжелого рока от конца 80-х\начала 90 и позже, причем еле-еле как-то знакомится с некоторыми группами-исполнителями по черт знает каким случайностям... Многое из классики рок-н-ролла совсем не нравится - те же Битлз и подобные группы никогда не вызывали у меня симпатии и интереса сколько не пытался вникнуть( очевидна капитальная промывка мозгов забойным независимым и нецензурным роком 90-х ), но КК оказывают на меня какое-то непонятное воздействие... Приходит в голову вещь - чем шире становится музыкальный кругозор, тем больше понимаю, что ничерта не знаю о музыке... |

Most tracks are undated mid-70's demos (featuring Robert Fripp on some tracks), originally issued as " New Depression Music - Music For Fans Vol. I" Notes on individual tracks from the compiler are below with the tracklisting. gamilan says; I own this piece of vinyl. Not very good sounding one, but a fair rarity now. I'm thinking about putting it on e-bay some day! Not a deadly sure, but I think most (if not all) of the tracks from EP were released on Instrumental Box and later on "half re-release" of Music for Films Vol. 2 under the title More Music for Films in the series of Eno's remastered albums in 2005. Sadly, not all tracks from Music for Films Vol. 2 were included on that re-issue. Maybe sometime in the future there will be another release perhaps entitled Some More Music for Films omitting some completely different tracks for collectors' enjoyment. Tracklisting 1.
