The Anix are four piece band out of southern California. Created with a vision of alternative rock for the time ahead of us. Brandon Smith (lead vocals, guitar synth, programming), Oscar Gutierrez (live v-drums,) Bryan Lareau (live guitars, keys) and Chris Yarber (live bass, keys and backing vocals) set out to create a sound that was rough yet advanced enough to be compatible with events and breakthroughs of the present day.
The Anix was formed in 2001, starting off as a synth rock style band, with obvious influence from 80’s bands such as the cars, depeche mode, the cure, while striving for the “radio” sound made popular today. The Anix recorded a cd titled “Digital Rock” that was sold exclusively through the bands website. The sound of the cd was referred to by most as synth rock. Throughout the year and into 2002, the band played to packed Hollywood clubs gathering a following and showcasing their unique sound to hundreds.
In the beginning of 2003, line up changes were made, and Justin was inducted into the band as the new bass player. With new influences, look, and music, the band found the sound they have been striving for since 2001, and recorded a new cd that should be referred to as the debut cd called “Double zero”. The new sound of the band is guitar based alternative rock with retro keyboard accents and driving acoustic and electric mixed drum beats, giving them a breakthrough sound that hasn’t been touched on before. It’s being called by booking agents around Hollywood, “wave metal”, which means new wave, mixed with alternative/ hard rock music.
But that wasn't enough for the band. Justin soon left and Chris Yarber (Aurasis/The Run) flew out from Florida to join the band and once again remold the sound of The Anix. The Anix recorded a new cd called "An Illusion of Time" mixing previous Anix musical styles together with a newer electronic sound to create something totally different than anyone has ever heard. Big plans are coming for the band, and with the support of the thousands that back them, there dreams and goals will come to reality.[/center]
